A viewer tipped me off to this FANTASTIC interview between a big brained investor… and…. uh… an “investor” who is currently short Tesla stock (and has been for literally an entire decade) and is also currently long legacy automotive. I kid you not.
As always, there’s a link in the description to watch the full thing which I highly recommend. For now, I’ll be focusing on a few highlights from one of the dimmest, most deluded Tesla short sellers on planet earth. It’s nothing personal, but I’m not gonna beat around the bush here. The lesson is simple: don’t be this guy unless you have a fetish for destroying your capital along with your reputation.
This is really hard to watch and hopefully this guy’s friends and family can stage an intervention, but until then… I have a few thoughts 😉

Mark is so full of himself that his prior success has clouded his judgment. Tesla is ahead in every product line. Trends are the only way to predict the future. That and your own experiences.
Mark is the kind of guy who would buy radial engines for airplanes just after jet Powerplants came onto the scene (think Messerschmitt 262 or the DeHavilland Meteor). Then came MIG-15’s and F-86’s! Trends!

Nobody can become financially successful overnight. They put in background work but we tend to see the finished part. Fear is a dangerous component hindering us from taking bold steps we need in other to reach our goals. you have to contend with inflation, recession, decisions from the Feds and all. I was able to increase my portfolio by $289k in months. You have to seek for help in the right places.

16:35: Since 2016? That's fantastic. I didn't pay attention to Tesla until May 2020 when a friend gave me a run down of what TEsla wa sdoing. I had mistakenly thought it was a car company. The stock was alreadly zooming up. I wish he had educated me in 2019. As it was I didn't jump in until the annoucement of the annoucement of teh 2020 Aug split. I have been grwoing my investement ever since. This year I am stoked that in a couple quarters the Megapack may steal the spotlight.

Brilliant episode. I feel smarter. Starting the watch, I thought Mark was nuts or a conman. Apifany. I now see now that Mark is in denial that the world is changing. Same thing with GM and Ford ( and I am a live long customer and fanboy of GM ) : 50 billion in market cap, 130-160 billion in debt, for a total of 180-210 billion in price tag, for earnings that are COMBINED less than TSLA, no growth for GM and F in sight, the opposite, declines since 2019 to continue in the coming years. I just hope they both survive. Jim Farley is working very hard to accomplish that . No-Thank You Mary, you do not lead.
